Private Practice Mentorship
Private Practice Mentorship
Building a private practice is exciting. It can also be overwhelming.
Few graduate programs prepare clinicians for the realities of actually building and running a private practice. Suddenly, in addition to being a therapist, you are making decisions about business structure, policies, fees, insurance, documentation, technology, marketing, scheduling, boundaries, finances, and dozens of other things you may never have been taught to think about.
I know because I’ve been there.
I’ve built my own practice, learned what works for me, made mistakes along the way, changed course when something wasn’t working, and accumulated a great deal of practical knowledge in the process. Mentorship gives me an opportunity to share that experience with clinicians who are building practices of their own.
Our work is individualized to where you are in the process. We might explore your practice identity and niche, fee structure, policies and boundaries, documentation and systems, insurance versus private-pay models, marketing, business operations, work-life balance, or the many practical decisions involved in creating a sustainable practice.
You don’t have to build your practice exactly the way I built mine. In fact, I hope you don’t. The goal is to help you think through your options, avoid unnecessary mistakes, and create a practice that reflects your own values, clinical interests, personality, and vision for your work.
Whether you are still wondering if private practice is right for you, preparing to open your doors, or already established and trying to figure out your next step, mentorship can give you a knowledgeable person to think alongside as you build the practice you want.
Testimonial
“Being a therapist in private practice is incredibly rewarding. I’ve been at this for 4 years and I can’t imagine myself ever working for anyone else again. I have complete creative control over every aspect of my work and it’s enormously gratifying. I am so grateful to Tracey for helping me navigate this process. When I was wavering about whether or not I could do this, she was so positive and encouraging. And once I decided to go for it, Tracey provided me with so many good ideas, resources, and hands on support. I couldn’t have done it without her.” Emilia
